Music Creators Workshop
July 27, 2026 - July 31, 2026

Learn. Create. Play together.

A key part of the workshop will focus on proper violin technique
Having good violin technique is an important foundation for ensemble playing. Students will develop skills in posture, movement, tone production, rhythm, listening, and coordination to help them play with greater confidence and work more effectively with others in a group setting.

How Composers Use Imagination Great composers often begin with imagination. Before a single note is written, they picture scenes, emotions, and stories in their minds. For example, film composer Hans Zimmer, known for music from movies like The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Interstellar, often begins by imagining the emotional world of a story before creating the music. In this camp, students will explore similar creative techniques by learning how to: • Visualize scenes and stories that inspire music • Hear music in their minds before playing it (a skill musicians call audiation) • Connect personal experiences and emotions to musical ideas • Transform imaginative ideas into melodies, rhythms, and harmonies Students will also create a Composer Inspiration Wall, where they can collect words, images, colors, and ideas that spark their creativity. These inspirations will help guide the music they create throughout the week.
